A study on the application of compost produced from the processing of medicinal herbs has been published.

The quality and application of compost produced from the production and processing of medicinal herbs at the Institute for Medicinal Plant Research "Dr. Josif Pančić" are presented in the paper titled: "Productivity and flower quality of different pot marigold (Calendula officinalis L.) varieties on the compost produced from medicinal plant waste", which was published in the internationally recognized journal M-21a – Industrial Crops & Products (Impact factor: 6.449), published by Elsevier B.V., Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The results of the study confirm the use of this compost in calendula crops, and also point to the possibility of using this compost for improving soil fertility and growing other medicinal as well as other plant species.

This affirms the fact that the conducted five-year research has direct practical applications, based on bio-circular economy principles and "green" agro-ecological measures, and further justifies the funding of activities under institutional financing by the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Serbia, specifically the subactivity titled "Investigation of the Impact of Compost Produced from Medicinal Plant Waste on the Nutrition of Cultivated Plants."
