Seed material
Seed production is an important segment of the Institute's operations. The seed production program was initiated in 1989, and significant measures have been taken in the past decade to improve this area and enhance its market positioning, adhering to principles of profitability in the selection of species and market approach.
Currently, the Institute successfully multiplies, processes, and sells seeds of around forty plant species, many of which were developed at the Institute, such as: “Domaća aromatična” dill (Anethum graveolens L.), “Vojvođanski” marshmallow (Althaea officinalis L.), “Domaći oranž” marigold (Calendula officinalis L.), “Banatska” chamomile (Chamomilla recutita L. (Rausch.)), “Domaći sitnozrni” coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.), “Vojvođanski” fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.), “Domaći ljubičasti” hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis L.), “Primorska” lavender (Lavandula angustifolia Mill.), “Sitnolisni” basil (Ocimum basilicum L.), “Dalmatinski” pyrethrum (Pyrethrum cinerariaefolium L.), “Primorska” sage (Salvia officinalis L.), “Vojvođanski” valerian (Valeriana officinalis L.), “Maja” St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum L.), and many others.

The quality of seeds for medicinal, aromatic, and culinary herbs is officially tested in accredited laboratories by the Accreditation Body of Serbia (ATS) according to the SRPS ISO/IEC 17025 standard. Control tests and research examinations are conducted in the Seed Testing Laboratory located in Pančevo, and in recent years, part of the scientific seed research has also been carried out in the Agronomic Research Laboratory in Belgrade.

Regarding seed germination, germination energy, purity, and the presence of remnants of other plant species, seeds must meet the conditions established by the current Regulation on the Quality of Agricultural Seeds, according to ISTA standards (International Seed Testing Association). To enhance this activity, some researchers from the Department of Agricultural Research and Development have joined the Society of Breeders and Seed Producers of the Republic of Serbia, where they gain the latest knowledge in the fields of seed biology and physiology, production, processing, marketing, seed crop control, seed quality testing, protection of seed crops and seeds, seed techniques and technologies, etc.
