Petar M. Batinić was born on November 8, 1992 in Smederevska Palanka. He completed his elementary education in school "Radomir Lazić" located in Azanja, while he received his secondary education in Smederevska Palanka, graduating from Grammar school "Palanacka Gimnazija (Palanacka Grammar School)" in June 2011. He enrolled at the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Belgrade, Department of Food Technology, in the academic year 2011/12. and graduated in 2015, with an average grade of 8.31/10.0, defending the final paper entitled "Analysis of the composition of milk cream by layers". In October 2015, he started master's degree studies in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy and completed them in 2016, with an average grade of 9.11/10.0- defending the master's thesis entitled "Antioxidant activity of biofilms with waste tobacco extracts and coffee". He earned the PhD in Technological Engineering - Chemical Engineering by defending his doctoral dissertation entitled "Controlled release of folic acid from the system liposome-biopolymer film" at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in September of 2023. The average grade in doctoral academic studies was 9.55/10.0. From July 2018 to April 2021, he was employed at the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Belgrade, in the Laboratory for Bioinformatics Engineering and Separation processes, where he worked on encapsulation experiments and controlled release of hydrosoluble and liposoluble vitamins into liposomes and liposome-biopolymer film systems for the purposes of his doctoral dissertation. He was elected to the position of Junior Researcher in July 2018, while he obtained the position of Research Assistant in June 2021. Since April 2021, he has been working at the Institute for Medicinal Plant Research "Dr. Josif Pančić" in Belgrade, in the Science Sector - Department of Agricultural Research and Development.
In February 2024, he received the title of Research Associate. During the academic year 2020/21. and 2021/22. he participated in the implementation of theoretical and experimental classes in the subjects- Basics of Biochemistry, Biochemistry, and Food Biochemistry at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade, Institute of Food Technology and Biochemistry, Chair of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He participated in one domestic and one international strategic science project. He participated in several bachelor and master theses, offering theoretical and experimental guidance for graduate students at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy at the University of Belgrade. As a member of the Organizing Committee, he participated in the organization and realization of the international conferences "UNIFood 2021 " and "UNIFood 2024" held at the University of Belgrade in September 2021 and June 2024.
He is a member of the editorial board of the magazine "Lekovite Sirovine (Natural Medicinal Materials)". The specified field of scientific research interests includes encapsulation of vitamins in liposomes and in liposome-biopolymer film systems, physical and chemical characterization of the specified carrier, as well as investigation of controlled release kinetics of vitamins in vitro conditions that should simulate the conditions prevailing in the physiological environment (skin, gastrointestinal tract, etc.). Also, one part of the research activities refers to extraction, chemical characterization, and testing of biological activities of medicinal plant extracts obtained by conventional (Soxhlet, maceration) and new ("green") extraction methods (microwave-assisted extraction, ultrasound-assisted extraction, and others). He is the author of several scientific works published in international and domestic journals, as well as papers in the proceedings of international congresses, printed as a whole or in an abstract.
