Jelena Mudrić was born on May 31, 1993 in Vojnić. She completed elementary school and high school in Belgrade. Subsequently, she graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Belgrade with a master's thesis entitled "Optimization of the extraction of Satureja kitaibelii Wierzb. ex Heuff. (Lamiaceae) herb and formulation of solid dosage forms for oral administration" in September 2017. During her studies, she was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Serbia. Following her studies, she completed an internship at Pharmacy Belgrade and passed the professional exam for the Master of Pharmacy in January 2019.
In October 2017, she started PhD studies, module Pharmaceutical Technology at the same faculty. She successfully defended her doctoral thesis, titled "Development of solid pharmaceutical forms based on gastroretentive floating carriers with encapsulated gentian root extract (Gentiana lutea L., Gentianaceae)" in May 2024, completing her doctoral studies with an average grade of 9.81.
She was employed at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Cosmetology, where she was involved in conducting practical courses in 2017 and 2018. Since July 2018, she has been employed at the Institute for Medicinal Plants Research "Dr. Josif Pančić" in the Department of Pharmaceutical Research and Development. She obtained the title of junior research assistant in 2018, and she was promoted to the title of research assistant in May 2021.
Throughout her career, Jelena has been actively involved in several research projects, including those funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, the Eureka project, and bilateral collaborations with the Republic of Montenegro and the Republic Austria. During May and April 2024, she was on a professional stay at the company "Apivita" (Greece) within the project Horizon 2020 under the name "Conservation of European Biodiversity through Exploitation of Traditional Herbal Knowledge for the Development of Innovative Products". She also managed one and was involved in a number of internal projects of the Institute, which resulted in new products on the market.
She is the author of research papers published in national and international journals as well as several short presentations, and a number of announcements from international and national conferences. She is a reviewer in several international journals. Her research interests encompass the optimization of bioactive compound extraction, the development of solid pharmaceutical dosage forms, and the microencapsulation of bioactive compounds. She is also focused on the valorization of plant waste and the exploitation of underutilized natural resources. Additionally, she is dedicated to the practical implementation of scientific findings, ensuring that her research contributes to the development of innovative and sustainable solutions in the pharmaceutical industry.
