Ana V. Dragumilo was born on March 29, 1989, in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia, where she completed both her primary and secondary education. She graduated in 2012 from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Belgrade, specializing in Phytomedicine within the Plant Production study program, with an average grade of 9.15. She completed her Master’s degree in 2013 at the same faculty and specialization, defending her master’s thesis titled “The Impact of Dodder (Cuscuta sp. L.) on Anatomical Changes in the Stem and Leaves of Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) under Conditions with and without Herbicide Application,” with an average grade of 9.50. She defended her doctoral dissertation titled “Weed Control in Peppermint (Mentha x piperita L.) Using Natural and Synthetic Mulches” on December 24, 2021, at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade.
During her undergraduate and master’s studies, she was a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. She completed an internship and training at the City Administration of Belgrade, Secretariat for Environmental Protection, Sector for Environmental Monitoring, from May to September 2013. In 2014, she became a scholarship recipient for her doctoral academic studies from the relevant ministry. As a doctoral scholarship holder, she participated in the implementation of an innovative project from 2014 to 2019. She participated in a strategic project with the People's Republic of China (2021-2024) and is currently actively involved in an international COST project (CA23123) as a Management Committee member from Serbia and deputy leader of the work package.
She won first place at an international student competition at the plant protection conference in Lille, France, and second place at a student competition under the slogan “Learning and Knowledge Connect Us” at the 10th Congress of Weed Science in Vrdnik, Serbia.
She became a Research Assistant in 2017 and a Research Associate in 2022, as determined by the Scientific Council of the Institute for Medicinal Plants Research “Dr Josif Pančić.” Since October 2017, she has been employed at the Institute in the Department for Agricultural Research and Development. She has been serving as the president of the Scientific Council since 2024 (a two-year term).
She is the author of numerous papers and chapters in internationally significant journals and monographs, as well as a large number of presentations at international and domestic conferences. Her research areas include physical weed control through mulching, the use of non-chemical methods for weed control in medicinal herbs, monitoring weed flora in medicinal herb plantations, and the qualitative analysis and testing of the efficacy of essential oils for weed control.
She is a member of the Plant Protection Society of Serbia (since 2012), the Serbian Weed Science Society (since 2016), as well as the AFPP - French Society for Plant Protection (since 2018).
She actively speaks English (Upper Intermediate level, B2).
